"On Making BRATS" is the true story of how the first documentary about growing up military - "BRATS: Our Journey Home" - was made, and what happened after it was released. This short memoir (20 pages, with 3 pages of personal photographs) chronicles writer-director Donna Musil's seven-year journey to make the award-winning film, with help from fellow military brats around the world. The story was originally published as a chapter in a book of memoirs, Writing Out of Limbo: International Childhoods, Global Nomads and Third Culture Kids, by Gene H. Bell-Villada and Nina Sichel with Faith Eidse and Elaine Neil Orr.
